Malays of Malaysia enjoy 'Special Privileges' as 'sons of the soil' with their religion Islam imposed on the Federation in multi-racial Malaysia. The term 'Tanah Melayu' is regarded as synonymous with Malaysia despite it being plural and multi-religious. Malays enjoy a 'Chosen People' status in Malaysia. Jews represent the majority in Israel and the land is undeniably the land of their forefathers for thousands of years. Their language, religion, culture and history is inexticably linked to the land of Israel. Now when it comes to Malaysia, Malays are not indigenous but yet are given privileges which other communities do not enjoy. Islam is given a superior status which should not be the case. We live in an Apartheid society in many respects but yet Malay Muslim politicians have the gall to criticise Israel for declaring itself a 'Jewish Nation State'. Israel does not discriminate against Arab Israelis in terms of educational opportunities,health provisions, social security and use of the Arab language which has a 'special status'. Arab can be used to communicate with any government department and this right is protected by law. It would appear that Malaysia could learn alot from Israel about how to treat its minorities.
